LA'S MOST CURSED AND EERIE HOTEL EVER. CAN YOU SURVIVE ONE NIGHT THERE?

Hey guys what's up i hope everyone is doing good and having a great day. If your new then welcome to our little world where we exchange information about a taboo subject like paranormal if you have already seen my blogs then welcome back🙂

So guys the topic for today is gonna be my personal favorite i bet you will love it too wanna know what i am talking about well i am talking about Los Angeles's most haunted hotel yeah you got it right "THE CECIL HOTEL." so without any further a do let us get started.

HISTORY OF THE HOTEL:-  The Cecil was built in 1924 by three hoteliers—William Banks Hanner, Charles L. Dix and Robert H. Schops as a destination for business travelers and tourists. Designed by Loy Lester Smith in the Beaux Arts style, and constructed by W. W. Paden, the hotel cost $1.5 million to complete and boasted an opulent marble lobby with stained-glass windows, potted palms, and alabaster statuary. The three hoteliers invested about $2.5 million in the enterprise, with the knowledge that several similar hotels had been established elsewhere downtown, but within five years of its opening, the United States sank into the Great Depression. Although the hotel flourished as a fashionable destination throughout the 1940s, the decades beyond saw the hotel decline, as the nearby area known as Skid Row became increasingly populated with transients. As many as 10,000 homeless people lived within a four-mile (6 km) radius.

The advertisement on the right side of the building originally had the word "monthly." The remains of the first letters can still be seen and this is why the current word "daily" is aligned on the right side unlike the other rows.

In 2007, a portion of the hotel was refurbished after new owners took over from there.

In 2011, part of the Cecil Hotel was rebranded as "Stay on Main", with separate reception areas during the day, but with shared facilities and its official website remained thececilhotel.com.

In 2014, the hotel was sold to New York City hotelier Richard Born for $30 million, after which another New York-based firm, Simon Baron Development, acquired a 99-year ground lease on the property. In 2016, Matt Baron, president of Simon Baron, said he was committed to the preservation of architecturally or historically significant components of the building, such as the hotel's grand lobby, but his company planned to completely redevelop the interior and fix the "hodgepodge" work that had been done in more recent years. The hotel closed in 2017 for the renovation, but the work was suspended indefinitely when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

In February 2017, the Los Angeles City Council voted to deem the Cecil a Historic-Cultural Monument, because it is representative of an early 20th-century American hotel and because of the historic significance of its architect's body of work.

On December 13, 2021, the Cecil Hotel reopened as an affordable housing complex operated by the Skid Row Housing Trust. The facility will provide affordable living accommodations for 600 low-income residents.

SUICIDES AND MISHAPS IN LA'S MOST FAMOUS HOTEL: Since its opening in 1927 Cecil has been the home of at least 16 different murders, suicides and paranormal activities that took place in the hotel. In 1930s alone there were at least 6 suicides reported while the others shot themselves slit their throats or jumped out of their bedroom windows.

For example in 1934 a man named Army Sergeant Louis D. Borden slashed his throat with a razor less than four years later Roy Thompson and Marine Corps jumped from the top of Cecil and were found on the skylight of a neighboring building.

On September 1994 19 year old Dorothy Jean Purcell woke up in the middle of night due to some stomach aches she was staying at the hotel with Levine,38 in the Cecil hotel she went to the bathroom quietly so she would not disturb sleeping Levine to her complete shock she gave birth to a baby boy later then she thought that her newborn is born dead so she threw her alive baby out of the window onto the roof of the other building. At her trial she was guilty for murdering her own child due to insanity reasons she was later sent for psychiatric treatment.

In 1962, 65-year-old George Giannini was walking by the Cecil with his hands in his pockets when he was struck to death by a falling woman. Pauline Otton, 27, jumped from her ninth-floor window after an argument with her estranged husband, Dewey. Her fall killed both her and Giannini instantly. Police initially thought that the two had committed suicide together but they saw that Giannini's shoes were still on because if the two would have committed suicide together his shoes would have fallen off mid-flight like the woman that fell onto him.

What would make people suddenly commit suicide? After all these mishaps Cecil was considered the most haunted hotel in LA.

THE PARADISE OF SERIAL KILLERS:- After suicides and mishaps Cecil has also been the home of the most notorious killers in American history.

In the mid 1980s Richard Ramirez also known as the "Night Stalker" murdered 13 people while staying at the Cecil Hotel after killing somebody he would always throw his bloody clothes in the Cecil Hotel's dumpster and then would wander in the hotel lobby completely naked or in his underwear At the time, Ramirez was able to stay there for a mere $14 per night. And with corpses of junkies reportedly often found in the alleys near the hotel and sometimes even in the hallways, Ramirez’s blood-soaked lifestyle surely raised nary an eyebrow at the Cecil.

What a crazy man right? unless its a prank or something nobody would wander naked in a public place.

In 1991 An Australian serial killer named Jack Unterweger used to strange his prostitutes with their undergarments Because the area around the Cecil Hotel was popular with prostitutes, Unterweger stalked these environs time and again in search of victims. One prostitute he is believed to have killed vanished right down the street from the hotel while Unterweger even claimed to have “dated” the hotel’s receptionist.

THE EERIE CASES AT THE HOTEL:- Many murders have been unsolved in the Cecil Hotel to pick one of many, a local woman known around the area named Goldie Osgood was found dead in her ransacked room at the Cecil. She had been raped before suffering a fatal stabbing and beating. Though one suspect was found walking with bloodstained clothing nearby, he was later cleared and her killer was never convicted another instance of disturbing violence at the Cecil that has gone unresolved.

Another guest of Cecil was Elizabeth Short later know as Black Dahlia because of her murder that was committed in 1947 she reportedly stayed at the hotel just before her mutilation, which remains unsolved. What connection her death may have had to the Cecil is not known, but what is known is that she was found on a street not far away on the morning of January 15 with her mouth carved ear to ear and her body cut in two. Such stories of violence are not simply a thing of the past. Decades after Short, one of the most mysterious deaths ever to take place at the Cecil Hotel happened as recently as 2013.

Well the case of 2013 was of Alissa Lam we all know about the infamous case she was a 21 year old Canadian college student who was found dead inside the water tank on the roof of the hotel three week s after she was reported missing her naked corpse was found after hotel guests had complained of bad water pressure and a “funny taste” to the water. Though authorities ruled her death as an accidental drowning, critics believed otherwise.

Before her death the hotel's surveillance cameras caught her doing weird things she looked scared and she peeking out of the life again and again she was acting like somebody is following her many people say that she was just playing the elevator game while others say that the spirits that haunted the hotel killed her well her case is still unsolved.

CECIL HOTEL NOW:- The last body was found in 2015 of a man who committed suicide the rumors of the hotel's haunting will never end and so will not the haunting of the people who died there.

So guys this is the end hope you liked it take care bye don't forget to follow.
